Some of the topics in this course are an overview of the Canadian healthcare landscape, medical records and information cycle, current issues with healthcare informatics and data analytics, structure of healthcare communities and record standards.

Other topics are data collection and the use and rules of discloser of healthcare records. Principles of communication, and change management of quality data and information while maintaining the security of health information throughout its lifecycle are also addressed. Students will be able to conduct reviews and collect information about the healthcare system. organize data, conduct basic analysis of healthcare data. They will also understand different applications of EMR and EHR and compare features of applications.

Student will identify the main problems in the suggested area of the Canadian healthcare system. They will use both data, cases and reviews to identify those problems. Then they review best practices that have been used to solve those problems and point to new solutions. Related to the healthcare system, some of the deliverables are: literature review, summary of main issues, best practices, primary analysis of data, findings.

Regarding E health and e records, additional deliverables will be a screening of software and reviewing features.
